I begin this epistolary blog with a lot of excitement! I got my first box from my CSA today and it looks wonderful. Here is a full catalogue of what I’ve received:
- Salad Mix (more than shown)
- 2 boxes of strawberries
- Rainbow Chard
- Spring Onions
- Cilantro
- Baby White Turnips
- Fava Beans
It all looks really yummy, but as expected, I don’t quite know what to do with it. In particular, I’m not sure if I’ve ever so much as eaten turnips or fava beans, and have certainly never cooked with them. Got any good ideas?
In addition to my produce, I’ve received some venison from a family member. Right now I’ve got:
- cube steak
- loin
- sausage (not in casing)
- ground meat
They’re all frozen, so I’ve put them into a handy page of Katie’s Pantry where I can list some of the more exciting items I have on hand, but are not immediately perishable.
